About

About us

The community we wished existed when we first arrived.

Our story

Rainbow Anonymous Netherlands was founded by LGBTQ+ refugees from Africa who fled persecution and found protection in the Netherlands. We know from experience that safety on paper is not the same as feeling safe, seen, and accepted.

Many of us arrived carrying trauma, isolation, and the habit of hiding. What helped us heal was not paperwork — it was community. People who spoke our languages, understood our cultures, and knew exactly what it costs to be yourself.

That is what Rainbow Anonymous is: the community we wished existed when we first arrived.

Who we serve

We welcome LGBTQ+ people of African and Caribbean descent in the Netherlands — asylum seekers, refugees, status holders, and anyone from our communities who needs a safe space. Allies who share our values are welcome too.

Our values

🔒

Safety first

Many members aren’t out to everyone. We protect each other’s privacy fiercely — no photos, no names, no information shared without consent.

🌈

Pride without pressure

You decide who you are, what you share, and when. We meet you exactly where you are.

💫

Lived experience

Our community is led by people who have walked this path themselves — not an institution looking in from outside.

Rainbow Anonymous Netherlands is a registered organisation in the Netherlands.
